GAINES TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Another big step was made Thursday for the property that could be the next Amazon distribution center.
The Gaines Charter Township Planning Commission approved the design for the project.
Township officials are still being tight-lipped about exactly what the proposed warehouse, currently titled “Project Rapids,” will become. Citing sources, MiBiz.com reports it will be a distribution center for Amazon.
The massive building would be located at the southwest corner of 68th Street and Patterson Avenue. That’s near the M-6/East Beltline Avenue interchange. The property is 97 acres and the proposed warehouse would be more than 1 million square feet.
The rendering for the project looks similar to other Amazon distribution sites, including one in metro Detroit
