Tax Day 2018: Free tax help for low-income families

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — If you haven’t already, taxes need to be filed by midnight Tuesday, April 17.

For those with income below $57,000, Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program will prepare 2017 taxes for free.

Davenport University is sponsoring walk-ins at the Kent County community action center. It’s located in the Health and Human Service complex at 121 Franklin Street in Grand Rapids. Walk-in hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday. People will be served on a first-come, first-served basis.

Before you head to get tax help, make sure to check you have all the needed information and documentation.

People may also prepare and e-file their own federal and state taxes online.

Another reminder for anyone who filed for an extension, whatever taxes you owe, they are still due by midnight on Tuesday, April 17.
