ROCKFORD, Mich. (WOOD) — Downtown Rockford businesses are offering deals to draw customers out for Small Business Saturday.
The tradition began after Black Friday became a nationwide event that primarily benefited big-named brands who can offer massive discounts.
“Each person that chooses to shop local: you’re supporting an actual person versus a big-box store,” said Priscilla Hansma, owner of SheActive Boutique. “What the shopper gets in supporting local is unique things.”
Small business owners say the day is huge because the holiday season is so important to their bottom line.
