ROCKFORD, Mich. (WOOD/AP) — A Rockford couple who gained national attention leading up to the birth of their 14th son are now the focus of a Lifetime movie.
Atlas Media Corp reports “13 Sons & Pregnant,” starring the Schwandt family, will premiere in October.
The Schwandts tell 24 Hour News 8 the piece is a documentary film.
Jay and Kateri Schwandt celebrated the birth of their 14th child, Finley Sheboygan in April.
The newborn’s middle name is inspired by a tale Kateri’s dad — himself the father of 14 — tells about an American Indian chief who was the father of many boys. The chief believed his last child would be a girl, but when the baby was a boy, the chief named him Sheboygan. As in “she is a boy again.”
The high school sweethearts had three children while they were students at Ferris State University. They’ve described their household as “organized chaos” but exactly what they want.
Jay Schwandt said he thought child No. 14 would be their last — but his wife noted he also said that after their 13th son.
