GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Authorities found two Kent County girls and their father on Mackinac Island after they were reported missing Monday.

Michigan State Police said 9-year-old Jenna Lynn Ypma and her sister 12-year-old Alexis Lynn Ypma were found unharmed after receiving a tip from an innkeeper on Mackinac Island. The innkeeper called authorities after seeing the Endangered Missing Advisory on the news.

The island is only accessible by airplaine during this time of year. State confirmed the girls and their father Joel Ypma had flown to the island earlier Monday.

Mackinac Island police are working to return the family back to Kent County, according to state police.

The girls were reported missing after they last seen with their father, who never dropped them off at school in Byron Center Monday. Family members said they’re worried about Ypma’s mental state and that he has recently been paranoid.

Ypma was said to be driving a black 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee with Michigan license plate BMK5222. He may have driven to northern Michigan and was spotted in the Mackinaw City area.
