Motorcyclist killed in crash near Ford airport ID’d

CASCADE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Authorities say a motorcyclist from Greenville was killed in a head-on crash after leaving an aircraft viewing area at the Gerald R. Ford International Airport.

The Kent County Sheriff’s Office said it happened shortly after 7 a.m. Monday in the 5000 block of Kraft Avenue near 52nd Street in Cascade Township, south of the airport. 

Investigators say 58-year-old Michael Wilberding was heading southbound on a motorcycle and 48-year-old Andrijana Masnica of Greenville was heading northbound in a Pontiac G6 when they collided. 

Wilberding died at the scene; Masnica wasn’t injured.

Aero Med was called to the scene, but later disregarded.

The crash closed the roadway for hours, but it has since reopened. 

The incident is under investigation
