Motorcyclist killed in crash near Lowell

LOWELL TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A motorcyclist died after colliding with an SUV south of Lowell Wednesday night.

It happened around 9:20 p.m. on Alden Nash Avenue south of Segwun Avenue in Lowell Township.

The Kent County Sheriff’s Office said the southbound motorcyclist passed another southbound vehicle and crashed into a northbound Ford Edge.

The motorcyclist, a 37-year-old man from the Lowell area whose name wasn’t released Wednesday night, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver, a 67-year-old male from Lowell, of the SUV was hospitalized with minor injuries.

Authorities are still investigating the crash and have not yet made a determination on whether alcohol was involved. They did say the motorcyclist was wearing a helmet.
