GRANDVILLE, Mich. (WOOD) — A Walker man was killed in a crash along 44th Street in Grandville Wednesday afternoon.

The two-vehicle crash happened around 4:30 p.m. on 44th at the westbound I-196 exit ramp.

The Grandville Police Department says a 34-year-old Mecosta man who was westbound on 44th ran a red light, at which point his Jeep hit the driver’s side of an Oldsmobile that was exiting the highway.

The driver of the Oldsmobile, a 50-year-old from Walker, died at the scene.

The driver of the Jeep was hospitalized. His injuries are not considered life-threatening, police said.

Police did not release either man’s name Wednesday evening.

Both directions of 44th Street were shut down while emergency responders were on the scene.
