Man indicted for Wyoming money lending store robbery

WYOMING, Mich. (WOOD) — A man is facing several federal charges in connection to the armed robbery of a cash advance store in Wyoming.

A grand jury has indicted Christopher Thomas Desonier on four felonies: interference with commerce by robbery, possessing a short-barreled shotgun to commit a violent crime, being a felon in possession of guns and ammunition, and possessing a short-barreled shotgun.

Desonier and another person are accused of robbing the 911 Cash store located located at 1225 Chicago Drive SW.

The indictment says Desonier and the other robber held customers at gunpoint during the March 23 crime. Police say no one was injured.

After getting an undisclosed amount of cash, the robbers were seen running westbound in the alley behind the store.

The morning after the crime, Desonier was pulled over by police on Burton Street SW near US-131 in Wyoming for driving with a suspended license. During the traffic stop, an officer noticed the driver matched the description of one of the robbers and discovered a .38-caliber revolver and a 12-gauge sawed off shotgun in the vehicle.

The indictment says the shotgun didn’t have a serial number and wasn’t registered to Desonier.  Authorities also found two boxes of shotgun shells, according to the indictment.

If convicted, Desonier faces at least a decade in prison.
