Iowa man to take over as EGR city manager

EAST GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — The city of East Grand Rapids has chosen a new city manager.

Emmanuel Toribio will take over for Brian Donovan, who is retiring after 25 years.

Toribio comes from Des Moines, Iowa, where he has been the assistant director of facilities planning and management at Drake University. He has also worked as a city administrator in Prairie City, Iowa, and as a city planner for Des Moines before that.

He was one of five finalists from among 28 applicants and won unanimous support from the East Grand Rapids City Commission.

The city hasn’t yet decided when Toribio will start his new job.
