EAST GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A Grand Rapids dive shop teamed up with Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital to get 20 former patients certified in diving.
Moby’s Dive Shop and Mary Free Bed helped 20 people with a disability become certified divers on Saturday at the East Grand Rapids High School pool.
One of the participants was a former swimmer who was thrilled to be back in the water.
“Crazy joy, it brought me so much joy to be in that pool,” said Jamie Jazdcyk. “There was a point where I was so excited that I thought I’d try to do a somersault. I did a forward one and a backward one.”
