KENTWOOD, Mich. (WOOD) — An iconic Detroit pizzeria will open its first Grand Rapids-area location Tuesday.
Buddy’s Restaurant Pizzeria will officially open its doors at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at its new location new location on 28th Street just east of East Paris in Kentwood.
To celebrate the grand opening, the nationally renowned pizzeria says it will give away a free pizza each month for a year to the first 100 people in line.
The 6,620 square-foot restaurant on 28th street will have seating for 210 guests, including 20 seats on an outdoor patio. The company says the establishment will feature reclaimed beams from Detroit factories, mosaic floors and a garage door over the bar.
In addition to Detroit-style pizza, the restaurant will offer rotating beer taps with a selection of brews from West Michigan.
Buddy’s Pizza, which has 12 locations in the Metro Detroit area with three more on the way, announced in January it was coming the west side of the state.
