SPARTA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Two teenagers are among the three people injured in a crash near Sparta Wednesday.
It happened shortly before 7 a.m. at the intersection of Fruit Ridge Avenue NW and 12 Mile Road NW in Sparta Township.
The Kent County Sheriff’s Office said a Chevrolet Cavalier driven by 17-year-old Tabitha Buozis of Spring Lake was heading northbound on Fruit Ridge Avenue NW when she lost control then crossed into the southbound lane. The vehicle hit a southbound Ford Edge driven by a 56-year-old Newaygo woman.
Buozis and a passenger, 17-year-old Miguel Vazquez of Sparta, were hospitalized with serious injuries. The driver of the Edge was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
The sheriff’s office said slippery road conditions were a factor in the crash.
