KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — Police are looking for the two men who robbed a Kalamazoo gas station at gunpoint Tuesday morning, one of whom also assaulted the clerk.

It happened around 6 a.m. at the Phillip 66 in the 3800 block of Stadium Drive east of S. Drake Road, according to the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety.

Police say two men wearing ski masks came into the gas station as the clerk was opening and demanded cash. One of the robbers was carrying a handgun and used it to hit the clerk “several times,” according to KDPS.

The men got an undisclosed amount of money and ran away. A police K-9 tracked them to the area of Stadium Drive Apartments in the 4200 block of Lakesedge Drive before losing the trail.

The clerk sustained a minor injury and declined treatment.

The robbers were described as men in their early 20s between 5-foot-8 and 5-foot-10. Both wore dark clothing and ski masks.

Anyone with information is asked to call KDPS at 269.337.8994 or Silent Observer at 269.343.2100.
