PORTAGE, Mich. (WOOD) — No one was injured when a train hit a semi-truck in Portage on Thursday afternoon.
Portage police told 24 Hour News 8 the driver of the semi-truck was leaving a private business off Shaver Road south of Vanderbilt Avenue when it was hit. The driver said he did not hear the train’s whistle.
One northbound lane of Shaver Road is blocked and traffic has been shifted to the center lane while police investigate.
Portage police say the southbound train struck a semi as it was leaving a private business. The semi driver failed to hear the trains signals. Again, no one injured as the train struck the semi where it hitches with its trailer. @WOODTV pic.twitter.com/OGFOrhOXfg— Justin Kollar (@kollarjustin) March 7, 2019
