MUSKEGON, Mich. (WOOD) — Jeffrey Willis’ sentencing for the 2013 murder of Norton Shores mother and gas station clerk Jessica Heeringa has been rescheduled.

Willis was initially scheduled to be sentenced Tuesday. He will instead be sentenced Monday, June 18.

Willis was found guilty last month of kidnapping Heeringa from the gas station where she worked in April 2013 and then murdering her.

His first-degree murder conviction carries a mandatory sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole. He is already serving a life sentence for the June 2014 murder of Rebekah Bletsch in Muskegon County’s Dalton Township.

He has denied killing either woman.

Because Heeringa’s remains have never been found, her family is holding out hope that she is alive.
