PORTLAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Authorities are releasing the name of a woman killed in a an Ionia County crash Tuesday morning.
The Ionia County Sheriff’s Office says the crash happened at 6:04 a.m. at S. Keefer and David highways in Orange Township, southeast of Ionia.
Deputies say 20-year-old Trinity Grace Nellis of Corning, New York was heading north on Keefer Highway when she disregarded a stop sign, traveling into the path of a pickup truck moving west on David Highway.
The Dodge Ram 2500 pickup truck collided with the passenger side of Nellis’ Honda Civic. The woman died at the scene, according to authorities.
The pickup truck driver, a 28-year-old man from St. Johns, was taken to Sparrow Ionia Hospital with injuries.
The intersection was closed for about five hours as authorities investigated and worked to clear the scene, but it has since reopened.
Investigators say everyone was wearing a seat belt and drugs and alcohol are not believed to be factors in the crash.
