IONIA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — One man was seriously injured in a three-vehicle crash south of Ionia Thursday.
The crash happened around 1:40 p.m. at the intersection of M-66 and Riverside Drive in Ionia Township.
The Ionia County Sheriff’s Office says a 59-year-old Caledonia man headed east on Riverside didn’t yield to traffic on M-66, at which point his van was hit by a northbound Chrysler. The Chrysler then hit a semi-truck that was waiting to cross M-66.
The driver of the Chrysler, a 30-year-old Stanton man, was taken to a hospital in Ionia. His injuries are serious, but not considered life-threatening.
The other drivers sustained only minor injuries.
The sheriff’s office says alcohol was not a factor in the crash and everyone involved was wearing a seat belt.
