GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — The president Grand Rapids Community College will retire at the end of next school year.
Dr. Steven Ender on Thursday announced his retirement effective June 30, 2017, when his current contract runs out.
“I have been blessed to have had a more than 40-year career working in higher education, the past seven at GRCC,” Ender said in a statement. “But, the time has come where I decided that my next step is retirement.”
GRCC Board of Trustees Chairman Bert Bleke praised Ender as a “highly effective leader,” in a Thursday statement, noting his efforts to “stabilize the budget, improve teaching and learning spaces, and increase dollars available for student scholarships,” among other things.
GRCC will start looking for a new president right away, Bleke said.
