GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Tick-borne diseases are on the rise across the U.S. and many may wonder what their risk is for getting sick if they get bitten by one of the pesky creatures.

Dr. Dehart with the University of Michigan Health-West said it’s important to detect any issues with ticks early and get them promptly treated. 

He says some effective preventative measures include proper tick bite removal and the use of tick repellents.
