GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Developers have scrapped one part of a plan for a new building in Grand Rapids’ Arena District.
The multimillion-dollar Studio C will no longer include a tower for office space. Developers with Franklin Partners, LLC, said they didn’t have enough companies sign up to fill the space, so they won’t build the tower.
Studio C, which will sit on what was two city-owned parking lots along Oakes Street SW near Ottawa and Ionia avenues, will still include a nine-screen movie theater, restaurants, apartments and a hotel.
Developers did not say Monday whether getting rid of the tower would change the construction timeline for the project, which is expected to wrap up in the fall of 2019.
