GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — After being delayed by a day, the ice rink at Rosa Parks Circle in downtown Grand Rapids is now open.
The rink, located at 135 Monroe Center St. NW, will remain in place until late February.
“People I think are ready for a change, something different to do,” John Judnich said Saturday. “Most people have it on their bucket list to get to Rosa Parks Circle, so it’s been building for a few weeks and especially with the holidays.”
Judnich is the Recreation Supervisor for the city of Grand Rapids. He has been busy monitoring conditions to ensure the rink was ready for skaters.
“We had to close yesterday because of warmth, but we are skating today. A little bit of rain in the air, but it looks like the rink is holding up very well,” he added.
Admission is $1 for people ages 17 and under and $3 for adults. Skate rental is free with paid admission. The ice rink is open Monday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 9:45 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 8:45 p.m. The open skate hours are weather dependent.
