Preparations underway for CityFest in Grand Rapids

Grand Rapids

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — There’s a lot of buzz about a festival happening in downtown Grand Rapids this weekend. You’ve probably seen the yard signs around town for CityFest West Michigan.

“We like to call this ‘Good News in the City’ because anytime you turn on the television, it seems like it’s bad news. We want to come together and really proclaim good news, being able to live a life that’s full like Christ compelled us to,” event director Levi Park said.

The program is the result of a collaboration between more than 450 churches. About a year and a half ago, leaders from dozens of denominations started discussing doing something together. That’s when the Luis Palau Association became involved.

Palau, a world-renowned evangelist, and his son will speak during the event. A number of Christian musicians will perform, as well.

The event starts at 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Ah-Nab-Awen Park in Grand Rapids. It is free and open to everyone.
