Police identify pedestrian struck, killed by car

Grand Rapids

WYOMING, Mich. (WOOD) — Police say a pedestrian has died after being struck by a vehicle in Wyoming.

It happened around 10:09 p.m. Friday at 28th Street SW, just west of S. Division Avenue.

On Saturday, authorities identified the pedestrian as 27-year-old Jesus Gabriel Quirin from Wyoming.

Police say it appears the Quirin was crossing the five-lane road northbound and was not within the crosswalk when he was struck by a westbound vehicle.

Quirin was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the vehicle was uninjured, according to the Wyoming Department of Public Safety.

The crash remains under investigation. However, alcohol and speed on the part of the vehicle driver are not suspected, police say.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Wyoming Department of Public Safety at 616.530.7300 or Silent Observer at 616.774.2345.
