Pedestrian struck by vehicle on WB I-196 in Grand Rapids

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Westbound I-196 in Grand Rapids has reopened after a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle Wednesday morning.

It happened around 8:45 a.m. on westbound I-196 near Lake Michigan Drive in Grand Rapids. 

The Grand Rapids Police Department told 24 Hour News 8 that the pedestrian suffered serious injuries. 

The westbound lanes of I-196 at Lake Michigan Drive were closed for nearly two hours Wednesday morning, but have since reopened. 

It’s unclear what led to the crash.
