New luxury apartments in GR: Inside 601 Bond

Grand Rapids

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Standing on the unfinished rooftop at 601 Bond, the view is breathtaking: A 360-degree view of downtown Grand Rapids, the Grand River just feet away, and in the distance on a clear day, the Grand Castle Apartments can be seen from nearly 9 miles away.

KMG Prestige, Inc. says the 16-floor high-rise apartments is exactly what the Belknap Lookout neighborhood needs.

“Location is key, from the commercial space, to the four-story parking garage, to the indoor-outdoor deck, the residents are going to have everything at their disposal,” said Christina Larson Angulo with KMG Prestige.

The building sits on the corner of Bond Avenue and Trowbridge Street NW on the northwest side of Grand Rapids. The main level features a lobby lounge for residents, with Sweetwater’s Tea and Coffee, a fireplace and another unfilled commercial space. In between the lobby lounge and the 202 units is a four-story parking garage.

The building boasts a number of different layouts, from  704-square-foot, one-bedroom, one-bath units that start at $1,325 a month to 2-bed, 2-bath, 1000-square-foot apartments on the 15th floor that rent for as much as $2,725.

Inside of the 704-square-foot Monroe layout, the company’s “luxury” touch is evident as soon as the door is open. It’s a smart door, connected to an app on your phone — one of the unit’s many smart features, controllable from anywhere.

“Everything will be smart home feature,” Larson Angulo said as she showed off the lock on the front door. “We will have the smart home lock, so you’ll be able to control everything on your phone, including the thermostat, the lighting, front door, let the dog walker in, all that.”

On the 16th floor rooftop lounge, KMG Prestige boasts much more than the panoramic views.

“We’ve got a sundeck over there, indoor-outdoor fitness center as well as a resident clubhouse, indoor-outdoor fire pits, full kitchens,” Larson Angulo said about what the finished product will look like. “Residents will be able to start and end their day up here.”

The managers at 601 Bond will be holding a “sneak peek” open house Thursday evening at 601 Bond for anyone interested in a tour. Move in day for residents is May 1.
