GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Jason Thomas Knickerbocker, renowned chef at the New Holland Knickerbocker, passed away at the age of 48.
Knickerbocker was born and raised in Grand Rapids and began cooking at Grand Rapids Community College.
As a young man, Knickerbocker worked in New York and Seattle as a chef, building his skills.
In time, Knickerbocker would return to Grand Rapids where he worked at The Reserve while furthering his education, studying History at Grand Valley State University.
In 2016 Knickerbocker became a chef at the New Holland Knickerbocker, coincidentally, until his death.
Knickerbocker is survived by his parents, and his son.
Knickerbocker died in his sleep Oct. 5 due to complications with diabetes.
A visitation and memorial service will be held Wednesday at Westminster Presbyterian Church. A reception will follow at the New Holland Knickerbocker.
