GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A man has been sentenced to serve 50 to 75 years in prison after being found guilty of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and kidnapping, among other crimes.

Kim Anderson was sentenced Thursday in Kent County Circuit Court. In early August, he was convicted in a jury trial on the charges, in addition to charges of felonious assault, unlawful driving away of a motor vehicle and being a habitual offender.

The charges stem from an incident in October 2017 in Grand Rapids in the area of Hall St. SE and Jefferson Ave. SE. Police did not provide details on what happened in that incident.

Anderson was able to avoid officers immediately after the incident but was arrested several days later.

Records from the Michigan Department of Corrections show Anderson has prior convictions for home invasion, escaping prison, breaking and entering, receiving stolen property and a weapons charge.
