GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A Grand Rapids man is in police custody in connection to a double shooting on the city’s southeast side.
Police say 20-year-old Brent Ohmill Brown Jr. is charged with two counts of assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder, felon in possession of a firearm and felony firearm for the April 13 shooting.
While investigating a shots fired call, officers heard multiple gunshots and discovered a wounded 24-year-old man in the 1100 block of Madison Avenue SE. He was taken to the hospital with critical injuries.
Officers later found a 27-year-old man who was also wounded. His injuries were not life-threatening, according to police.
The shootings sparked a four-hour standoff that ended when officers discovered no one inside the house.
A motive for the crime is unclear.
Brown remained in the Kent County Jail Thursday on a conditional bond of $25,000. Jail records show he was charged in June with assaulting or obstructing a police officer, domestic violence, breaking and entering a vehicle, theft, and assault with a dangerous weapon.
