GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A 19-year-old man is in the hospital after he accidentally shot himself Saturday morning.

Just before 5 a.m., officers with the Grand Rapids Police Department were sent to a local hospital after a man showed up with a gunshot wound.

The man told police that he was riding around in a vehicle with a gun in his waistband. The gun then accidentally went off, injuring him.

GRPD said his injuries are not considered life-threatening.
