Juveniles in custody after robbing GR gas station; fled on city bus

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Four juveniles were arrested Saturday morning for their alleged connection to an armed robbery downtown Grand Rapids.

The robbery happened just after 11 a.m. at the Mobil station on Cherry Street SW near Market Avenue SW in downtown Grand Rapids. 

Grand Rapids Police say four boys were stealing candy from the gas station until the store clerk caught them. One of the boys pulled a BB gun and demanded money from the clerk. 

The boys fled east on Cherry Street SW until they arrived at Rapid Central Station on Grandville Avenue SW. 

Police say the boys boarded a bus and attempted to flee but were only able to ride a few blocks when police stopped the bus near the intersection of Wealthy Street and Market Avenue. 

The four boys were taken into police custody and arrested for armed robbery, they are lodged at a juvenile detention youth home.

No one was injured in this incident.
