HopCat to open second Grand Rapids location

Grand Rapids

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) —There are plans to open a second HopCat location in Grand Rapids.

BarFly Ventures LLC announced plans Monday to open a 6,150-square-foot HopCat restaurant at 2183 East Beltline Avenue NE at Knapp’s Corner in the Celebration Village development.

The new Grand Rapids location will feature 80 taps and seat 250 with an outdoor dining area that seat another 70 people. And unlike the downtown location, they will offer Detroit-style pizza and brunch — items that have become favorites at other locations around the state.

“A lot of people have been asking us when we were going to do another one in our own backyard. This was that opportunity that we’ve been looking for a long time,” BarFly Ventures LLC Vice President of Marketing Chris Knape. “It’s a site where a lot of our customers are already coming from that known HopCat downtown, but maybe they don’t get downtown as often. We love the fact that it’s near entertainment venues like Celebration Cinema, Frederick Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park and a lot of growth and activity happening in that area.”

The opening of the new Grand Rapids location will mark HopCat’s seventh Michigan location and 17th overall.

The new brew pub is scheduled to open in October or November 2018, according to Knape.
