GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A culinary staple in Grand Rapids’ East hills neighborhood will serve up its last meal on Saturday.

Marie Catrib’s announced it would be closing last month after nearly 14 years in business.

Customers packed the eatery throughout the day Saturday to sneak in one last meal. Employees at the restaurant said it’s more than a place to eat — it’s a family.

“Thanks to everyone for coming out, showing us that this place is gonna live on even though it’s not open,” said Joseph Faccio, an employee.

There is some good news for those who loved the food there: the owner is planning to make a cookbook with his mother’s recipes. Those interested in purchasing it can email Fouad Catrib at cookbook@mariecatribs.com.
