GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Plans for a property tied to the Grand Rapids Public Museum School’s new high school are getting a financial boost from the city.
Wednesday, the Downtown Development Authority approved $52,000 in funding to resurface the parking lot and revamp the pocket park at 54 Jefferson Ave. SE. The Grand Rapids Board of Education previously approved the project by a unanimous vote last month.
Grand Rapids Public Schools purchased the parking lot at the corner of State Street SE and Jefferson Avenue SE from the city to serve as visitor and staff parking for the school. The property also includes a pocket park adjacent to the lot.
The Museum School opened to middle school students in 2015. The high school patterned after its innovative program is slated to open this fall.
