GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Grand Rapids police have been asked to investigate what’s being called a suspicious death at a nursing home Tuesday.

The deceased is a 90-year-old woman who was living at Heron Manor Assisted Living off of Leonard Street NE in Grand Rapids.

The Kent County medical examiner told 24 Hour News 8 that the woman had injuries to her abdomen that are “suspicious.” Dr. Stephen Cohle wouldn’t go into details, but said he wants to know the cause of those injuries. That’s why he asked police to interview staff at the nursing home.

An autopsy will be performed Wednesday.
