GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Grand Rapids detectives are continuing to search for suspects in a shooting that wounded a 5-year-old girl and her 17-year-old brother.

It happened just before 10 p.m. Wednesday on Quigley Boulevard SW between Buchanan and Division avenues.

Police say someone outside pointed a gun toward the house and opened fire, shooting the victims inside.

The 5-year-old girl suffered a life-threatening gunshot wound to the head, but police said Tuesday her condition has drastically improved and she is expected to survive. The Grand Rapids Police Department says the girl remains in the hospital but is in stable condition and making great progress.

The 17-year-old boy was also taken to the hospital, where he was treated and released.

GoFundMe page has been set up to help the family relocate and cover medical costs.

Anyone with information is asked to call GRPD at 616.456.3400 or Silent Observer at 616.774.2345.
