GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — One person died and four others were hospitalized after a crash in Grand Rapids Tuesday, police said.
Around 4 p.m., a group of three motorcycles was driving on Fulton Street near Jefferson Avenue when two of them crashed into a van then hit another vehicle, according to the Grand Rapids Police Department. Firefighters said it was a t-bone crash.
Two motorcyclists and three people in the van were taken to the hospital. One of the motorcyclists, 31-year-old Wade Freeman of Grand Rapids died from his injuries, officers said.
Witnesses told police that speed was a factor in the crash. GRPD is still investigating.
Fulton Street was shut down following the crash for cleanup and a forensic investigation.
