GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — More than six months after it shut its doors unexpectedly, the Kilwins chocolate shop in downtown Grand Rapids reopened Monday.

The shop in McKay Tower at the corner of Monroe Center and Monroe Avenue is now under the ownership of the same group that owns the East Grand Rapids Kilwins. The owners include Bob and Rosalie Kaser, Brian and Heidi Tierney, and Andy and Maria Young.

The downtown location closed in January because the former franchise owner wasn’t paying suppliers or royalties, a spokesperson at Kilwins’ corporate location in Petoskey told 24 Hour News 8 at the time.

There are also Kilwins shops at RiverTown Crossings Mall in Grandville and several West Michigan lakeshore locations.
