GR, Kzoo to join Friday’s Global Climate Strike

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — Some West Michigan students plan to join Friday’s Global Climate Strike.

More than 1,600 strikes in more than 100 countries have been planned to call for stricter regulations to protect the environment and slow global warming. As of Friday morning, demonstrations were already underway India, Malaysia and the Philippines.

A Global Climate Strike will take place at Rosa Parks Circle in Downtown Grand Rapids at noon, and at the flagpoles on Western Michigan University’s campus in Kalamazoo at 12:15 p.m.

WMU’s Students for a Sustainable Earth say their strike will feature speakers and opportunities for local action.
