GR Commission approves marijuana ordinance

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Grand Rapids city commissioners have laid the initial groundwork for allowing recreational marijuana businesses.

Commissioners unanimously approved an ordinance Tuesday night allowing both medical and recreational pot businesses will need a municipal license to operate within city limits.

However, the city still must put together a plan for licensing recreational businesses.

The state will begin accepting applications for recreational marijuana businesses Nov. 1.
