GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A Portage woman was sentenced to federal prison on child pornography charges.

Rachel Marie Burrell, 30, was sentenced in federal court in Grand Rapids Thursday to 180 months in prison, followed by five years of supervised release and ordered to pay fines for sexual exploitation of a child.

According to a release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Burrell took sexually explicit photos of an infant in her care then sent them to a man with whom she was in a relationship. She also made the child available to him, knowing he would sexually assault the infant.

After the abuse, the victim now suffers from night terrors and a sensory processing disorder, according to a victim impact statement by the child’s foster parents.
