GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A major renovation is in the works for Breton Village mall in Grand Rapids.
CWD Real Estate Investment announced on Thursday that the “demall” of Breton Village, located near the corner of Burton and Breton Road SE, is expected to start in September.
The multi-phase project will create an open-air shopping center with outdoor seating areas, green spaces, more restaurants and specialty retail stores.
Construction crews will remove the upper story and roof of the main shopping center building, create exterior storefronts for all tenants, and add a new building on the west side of the shopping center along Breton Road.
“We’re getting tremendous interest in Breton Village from a variety of very cool restaurants and retailers,” said Scott Wierda, CWD managing partner and co-owner of Breton Village. “We expect to announce several exciting additions in the months ahead.”
All retailers and restaurants in Breton Village will remain open for business throughout construction, according to a news release from CWD.
The project is expected to wrap up in late 2017, although a completion date has not been set.
