GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Art Van is closing its doors for good, but before it does, it’s having some big sales.
Starting Friday, the company will hold liquidation sales. So how do you get the best bang for your buck?
“If you look at liquidation sales that we’ve seen over the last few years — Toys R Us, Younkers, Sears locations that have gone out of business — what you’re probably going to see the prices today aren’t significantly different than the price was yesterday,” Troy Baker of the Better Business Bureau explained on Friday Daybreak. “The start of that liquidation sale doesn’t have those 70% off discounts. Those come when there’s almost nothing left in the store.”
He said buyers will have to keep an eye on prices of items and make judgments about what they’re willing to pay. He also reminded buyers to check sale prices against other stores because you could still get a better price elsewhere.
Baker said if you do make a purchase, get information about the warranty, which will likely be run through a third-party company.
