GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — The search for an appointee to serve Grand Rapids’ 3rd Ward on the City Commission has been narrowed to three finalists.

Those finalists, recommended by a subcommittee Tuesday, include:

  • Ryan Anderson
  • Austin Dean
  • Nathaniel Moody

The three candidates, who were among 10 finalists interviewed by the subcommittee, are hoping to take over for former Commissioner David Allen, who resigned last month to focus on his job leading the Kent County land bank, now called InnovaLaB.

The City Commission will interview the three finalists and take public comment July 24. You will be able to watch the interviews and hearing steaming live on the city’s Facebook and YouTube pages, as well as on the Grand Rapids Information Network on Comcast Channel 26.

An appointment will be made during a special meeting July 31. The new commissioner will serve out the remainder of Allen’s term, which ends in August 2019.
