GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A sinkhole raising concerns in a Grand Rapids neighborhood may soon be fixed.
A neighbor contacted 24 Hour News 8 Thursday, saying the sinkhole on Norwood Avenue SE has remained untouched for more than a week. The hole sits at the center of the street, between Robinson Road and Wealthy Street.
Someone placed four orange cones around the hole, which is about two feet wide and three feet deep.
A neighbor said a city official told him a leaking sewer pipe caused the dirt underneath the street to erode and the pavement to buckle.
When 24 Hour News 8 contacted the city about neighbors’ concerns, officials said they would send crews out Monday to fix it.
