Frozen vegetables recalled due to listeria concerns


RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — The National Frozen Foods Corporation has voluntarily recalled frozen green peas and frozen mixed vegetables for possible listeria contamination.

They were sold nationwide at stores including Walmart and Target under the brand names Bountiful Harvest, First Street, Great Value, Live Smart, Market Pantry and Sprout between September 2, 2015 and June 2, 2016.

Listeria can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections, especially in young children, elderly people or those with weakened immune system. Symptoms include a high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea.

There have been no reports of illness related to the consumption of these recalled items. If you experience any symptoms, contact your doctor.

The Food and Drug Administration cautions people not to consume these products. Any products matching these descriptions should be disposed or returned for a full refund. A full list of the recalled items is available online.
