BUFFALO, N.Y. (WOOD/WIVB) — The ice-covered vehicle, or “carcicle,” that gained national attention was freed Wednesday.

On Monday, the car became covered in a thick sheet of ice in Buffalo, New York. Waves churned up by a winter storm crashed into the vehicle, which was parked near Lake Erie.

After the car was towed away, an ice shell remained standing in the parking lot.
