GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A former anchorman with WOOD-TV passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday.
David Lee Bolton, of Grand Rapids, died one day before his 83rd birthday, according to his obituary.
Bolton was a graduate of Michigan State University. His early career was in broadcasting, where he began as a disk jockey in Fort Wayne, Indiana, moving then to Omaha, Nebraska, and Detroit before coming to Grand Rapids.
He worked as an anchor at WOOD-TV from 1968-1980 before retiring from broadcasting to become an investment broker.
Bolton lived with his wife Linda in Holland from 1981 to 2003, where they attended Christ Memorial Church.
Visitation for Bolton will take place at the Metcalf & Jonkhoff Funeral Chapel on Cascade Road from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Sunday.
A funeral service is being held the following day at 11 a.m. at the Westminster Presbyterian Church, located at 47 Jefferson Ave SE in Grand Rapids, with a one hour visitation beforehand.
