GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A 24-year-old man is facing a federal charge for robbing a bank in downtown Grand Rapids.

Durand Quentin Lee is expected to be charged in connection to Tuesday’s robbery at the Huntington Bank inside the Trust Building on Pearl Street NW.

Police said the man walked into the bank, pointed what appeared to be a handgun at employees and demanded money.

According to the federal court indictment, Lee took approximately $5,640 from the bank before he was ordered to the ground by an officer walking to the nearby Kent County Courthouse.

The suspect was arrested less than 50 feet from the bank. Police said they recovered a BB gun and cash from the man.

The indictment states Lee assaulted and put another person’s life in jeopardy by using what appeared to be a handgun during the crime.
