Deputies: Man admits to setting home on fire after argument


SHERMAN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A man was arrested for arson after deputies say he admitted to setting his house on fire after an argument.

Firefighters and deputies were called to the structure fire in the 27000 block of Oak Drive in Sherman Township around 3:30 a.m. Saturday.

According to a release from the St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Department, deputies spoke with a resident of the home who told them he had set the fire following an argument with a family member.

The suspect, a 45-year-old man, was medically evaluated and taken to the St. Joseph County Jail on an arson charge.
